At DSI, we welcome volunteers. There are many areas where you can assist with programs and services. Come join dozens of other senior center volunteers on a rotating or permanent schedule designed to fit into your lifestyle and wishes. Over 275 volunteers, along with our dedicated staff, form the backbone of years of successful programs and services to our senior community.
Our volunteers logged in over 11,000 hours of service last year. These hours translate into $90,000 in savings to the public. We have over 50 volunteers in our prestigious "100 Hour Club". Just a handful of our volunteers are pictured at left.
You'll work side by side with other loving and caring individuals who bring their abilities and talents to the ever increasing senior population. Each year, all volunteers are treated to a special luncheon in their honor, complete with fabulous food, gifts and a thank you presentation from a local citizen who exemplifies the true meaning of service.

• Meal Delivery (9:30am until Noon)
• Front Desk Help (greeting visitors and answering phones)
• Movie Day (make popcorn for movie)
• Office duties (clerical, filing, shredding etc.)
• Portioning meals (8:30am to 9:30am)
• Gift Shop attendant
• Teach or instruct a class (such as computer, bridge, information sessions)
• Activity Day (helper/scorer)
• Baking Volunteer (bake birthday cakes for home-bound members)
• Birthday Day (set up/serve cake and ice-cream)
• Community Events, Fund-raisers and our annual fall Craft Fair
• Making reminder/information telephone calls
• Conduct one time workshops (share your talents and expertise)
• Make and donate crafts/goods for gift shop
