Volunteer
Opportunities
We
welcome volunteers. Anyone over 18 years old can
be a volunteer. Under 18 would require adult supervision.
If you are looking to volunteer, we have many
needs available. We like to match our volunteers
with things they enjoy. Volunteers are very important
to us, and we are thankful for all that they do.
To be a part of our team, we ask that you give
just twenty hours a year. We have a sign in sheet
to track the time you’ve spent volunteering.
Below is a list of some of our needs. If you have
any questions, please call Grace Suter at 871-5053.
Thank you for considering us; we would love to
hear from you.
Meal
Delivery - Our biggest need is with our
meal delivery program. We have four routes that
deliver meals Monday through Friday to our homebound
members. We need volunteers that will ride in
the front passenger seat and get the meals ready
for delivery. The driver knows the routes and
the families and will instruct the volunteer as
to what door the client is used to receiving the
meal. The hours are from 9:30am to 12:00noon.
Portioning
Food - The meals that we deliver need
to be portioned into containers that are made
for easy handling and traveling. Training is given
to show how much food should be placed in the
containers. It will take approximately an hour
to portion the food. We start portioning at 9:00
am.
Birthday
Day - Volunteers would serve cake and
ice cream to the members who have a Birthday in
that month. The Volunteers would also help with
the set up and clean of this wonderful event.
Activity
Day - We need volunteers that can be
cheerleaders and encourage our members to get
up and have fun during our activity day. Our Activity
Director has many wonderful games planned. The
volunteers would help keep score and assist where
they are needed.
Front
Desk Help - Occasionally, we need help
staffing our front desk. The volunteer would answer
the phone and greet people coming into the center.
We provide training. It is a fun position because
you are able to greet the happy faces that are
coming and going in and out of our center.
Fitness
Room Monitor - We need volunteers that
will be present in the fitness room while a member
wants to work out. We require that there be two
people in the fitness room at all times for safety
reasons. The volunteer does not need to work out
and can watch TV, read or work on their hobby.
Special
Events Volunteers - This usually requires
many volunteers. We have had several events that
would not have been successful without the help
of our volunteers. An example would be helping
at our Craft Fair serving refreshments, monitoring
our Silent Auction, selling baked goods and staffing
our booth selling some handmade items from our
center. In the spring, we have a booth at both
theFlowertown Festival and Grits Festival, where
our volunteers gave out bookmarks (that they worked
on) and literature with our activities
and information.
