Ceramics Start to
Finish: Come
and join our ceramics class and learn everything from how to pour your piece to
firing and cleaning and all of the different painting processes. Instructor:
Crystal Long Mondays and Tuesdays at
9:30-11:30 AND now an afternoon class is offered as well at 1:00-3:00.
Cost:
$27 per month (16 hours of instruction) or $3.50 per class; fee also
includes all standard paint colors and pieces you are able to prepare in the
allotted time. Payment due at the front desk.
Creative Clay
Class: Crystal Long teaches
the basics of working with clay. Learn how to mold, clean & glaze your clay
project. Mondays & Tuesdays 1:00-3:00. Fee is $17 per month. Payment is to be
made at the front desk & must be paid by the month, no daily class fee for
this class.
Crafts: Always simple and lots of fun! Come and see what we’ll be making this month.

Knutson teaches quilters of all levels the techniques of hand piecing, machine
piecing, appliqué, and much more.

Knitting: Porter Harden teaches
the basics of knitting. Classes are held the second and fourth Mondays each
month at 10:00 am. Classes will be August 11th and August
25th.
New - Crochet: Crochet is back! Maria Bessler will teach crochet
on Fridays beginning August 7th at 10:00 am. Please welcome Maria
and join her as she teaches all levels of crocheting.
Painting Pals: Bring your brushes
and supplies and join this group of painters. All painters are welcome. No
instructor will be on site for this class. Fridays

Gardening
Club: A
member of the Clemson Extension Master Gardeners will be at the Center the
first Monday of each month at 10:30am. This month the session will be held August
4th.
Bible Study: Join Ms.Trophelia
Ajala for a non-denominational Bible Study Wednesdays at 10:15 am.
Bookmobile: The Dorchester county Library will bring its bookmobile
to the center. You can apply for a library card or check out books and movies
for three weeks at a time. Date: August
15th at 10:15 am.

Advanced
Computer Class: This class is a six week course and covers Word,
email etiquette, choosing an email program, sending and receiving email,
protecting against spam and viruses, and more. Next
class begins August 15th.
**You must be a member of H2U to participate in aerobics, yoga, line

**Aerobics: Get moving with this class of floor and chair aerobics
designed to improve abdominal tone, strengthen your legs and get your heart
rate going! Bring a towel and a mat. Instructor: Ronna ToombsTuesdays and Thursdays

Enhance
Fitness Class –
Enhance Fitness is a very low intensity, non-impact class with 30 minutes
of very basic aerobic movements with balance and coordination movements
incorporated and 20 minutes of toning exercises using ankle and wrist weights.
The class ends with abdominal exercises and stretching. A good
class for people with low endurance and balance limitations. It is
also great for people who suffer with fibromyalgia.

Chair
Exercise: A good place to
start for beginning exercisers, this class offers seated group exercises done
to music under the direction of a video. Mondays and Fridays 10:30-11:15 (Please check calendar for days this class is
NOT held due to other exercise activity).

Dancing: Put on your dancing
shoes and join our line dance class. Instructor: Evelyn Ward Fridays
12:30-1:30pm
**Yoga: Join in these calming sessions. Bring a mat, towel, and

Sit and Get
Fit:
For the
not-so-active senior, this class allows you to exercise from a seated position
while being led by an instructor. Come
strengthen your entire body. Instructor:

Training: Designed to improve
muscle strength and bone density, this class will help tone your body. Bring a towel, mat, and a pair of 3 lb.

Mall and Lunch: Shop
at any of the stores at the Mall and eat when you are ready in the Food Court.
Bus will leave the Center at 10:15. Transportation cost $3.00 and lunch at your

BINGO: Join us each week as
we play for donated prizes. The 3rd Wednesday is Nutrition BINGO.

– Introduction to Acrylics Workshop: Presented by Painting Pals. No Experience
required!
Supplies will be provided, however if you
have acrylic paint and brushes, and a picture you would like to paint from,

NEW - Living Well Program: A six week self-help program that teaches people living
with chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure a
number of skills to manage their illness and the symptoms, manage stress, how
to talk to their doctor and family, what to expect after diagnosis and how to
develop an action plan. Research has shown that when people can effectively
manage a chronic illness it reduces the need for hospital visits and lowers the
number of incidents in which medications are used inappropriately. Those who
have gone through the program have had great results.
The
program is free and open to seniors
in the tri-county area living with a chronic illness. Classes are 2 ½ hours on
Thursdays beginning August 21st
through September 25th 1:00 until 3:30 pm. If you have any

– Reading,
Writing & Basic Math Class: - Want to learn or
enhance your reading, writing and basic math skills? Along with Trident
Literacy, Dorchester Seniors, Inc. will offer free classes beginning in August (date to be announced). The classes will be held two days a week from
9:30 – 11:00 am. Classes are for all levels. If you are
interested or know someone that has difficulty reading or
writing or just wants to refresh their skills, please tell them about this

the Social Security Website: Susan Durand from the Social Security Administration

Parents Anonymous, a non-profit support group, facilitates a meeting of
caregivers of children. This group offers support whether you are a caregiver
